Frequently asked questions
Everything you wonder
about Nuni Global.
Here you will find answers to the most common questions about our organic and handmade products, from use and storage to pregnancy and intimate care.
How do I use the products?
When you receive your order, you will receive a brochure that guides you in how to use the products. It's really not a 10-step routine with shea butter and black soap — but incredibly simple and smooth. Think like this: black soap to wash with, shea butter as a cream to lubricate with.
Both can be used for skin and hair/scalp. So: if you — like Aida — have always suffered from a problematic scalp with itching, dandruff and sores, you can happily say GOODBYE to those problems when you start with shea butter and black soap!
How long do the products last?
The shea butter and black soap last for years. According to the village women in Ghana, the products stay fresh for up to two years. After a year, the vitamins from the products begin to wear off — but it is still possible to use the shea butter as a softening cream and the black soap as a cleansing soap.
How are they best stored?
The products can be stored in the packaging they come in: dry and cool. One tip, however, is to store them in a glass jar. Press the shea butter into a glass jar, or whip it into a lovely, fluffy cloud and put it in the jar. Black soap can be divided into smaller pieces and put into a glass jar. Then take out a piece, use up and take out the next piece. It is possible to have it in front of you on a soap dish.
How long does a product last?
It depends entirely on how often you use the products and areas of use. More is used if you use both for face, body and hair — even if the products are expensive.
How do you whip the shea butter?
Take a piece of the shea butter or the whole shea butter. Heat a little over a water bath or microwave: just until it becomes a little runny at the bottom. Beat with an electric whisk for about 10 minutes or until you get the consistency you want. Put it in your glass jar and ENJOY when you lubricate yourself.
My black soap is/has turned gray/white — is it mold?
No, no and no! Your black soap has not gone bad, nor is it moldy. What has happened is a chemical reaction where a white layer forms around the soap, when it has breathed in moisture. It does not affect the properties, quality or durability.
Why is the shea butter gritty/crumbly sometimes?
Unrefined shea butter, untreated and natural, has an incredible amount of beneficial fatty acids. What can happen during manufacturing is that these fatty acids clump together and become small crystals/grains. The shea butter melts in contact with body temperature — and you can therefore easily rub it between the palms of your hands. You can also whip up the shea butter, as described above, to get a smoother cream.
Can nut allergy sufferers use shea butter?
The shea nuts, from which the shea butter is made, are a completely different family of nuts than the ones we are usually allergic to. The shea butter also has basically 0% protein in it — which makes it hypoallergenic. We have hundreds of customers, with nut allergies, who have returned and never had any reactions from the shea butter. If you want to be on the safe side, you can lubricate on a smaller area first and then expand as you go.
Can you get pimples from the products?
Both the shea butter and the soap have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and can work fantastically against, for example, pimples and acne. What can happen at first is a purging process where bacteria under the skin come to the surface. You may therefore notice that more pimples appear at first, as the skin cleanses itself of bacteria. A purging process can last between 2-8 weeks. Hold on!
And remember to adapt the skin care routine with shea butter and black soap, based on your skin type. If you are more dry, focus on moisturizing and the shea butter. If you feel you need to exfoliate, use more black soap; but remember to always moisturize with. You don't want your skin to become dry: because then more pimples and irritations can occur.
How do shea butter and black soap smell?
Both shea butter and black soap are completely free of additives and perfumes, among other things. They are straight from nature — completely untreated. The shea butter smells — according to a majority — a mixture of nut, white chocolate and nature. Black soap as well: a scent of nature, forest, clean.
Use of the products during pregnancy, breastfeeding and for newborns?
You who are expecting a child: there are no restrictions regarding the products. They are as pure and natural as they can be — and that's why shea butter and black soap are actually recommended for your newborn miracle.
In Ghana, there is a tradition of lubricating the vaginal opening with shea butter throughout pregnancy: to facilitate childbirth and reduce the risk of vaginal fissures. Also during breastfeeding — to reduce the sores that can occur in connection with breastfeeding. Several customers have actually followed this tradition here at home in Sweden and been helped!
Can the products work for intimate care?
Now you know that shea butter and black soap have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and that they are completely untreated and natural. In addition, both shea butter and black soap have antifungal properties — and help balance the pH value in the body and bud.
Have you, like so many of us, had problems with fungus, itching, imbalance or bacterial vaginosis in the vagina — need you try the shea butter. Also black soap: but remember not to soap/wash the vagina too often. Rinsing with lukewarm water, followed by lubrication (internally and externally) with shea butter may be sufficient.
It is also possible to make your own vagitories from shea butter. For video/tips about this — go to @aidakn Instagram.
Is there anything else I need to think about regarding the products?
Think: simple. No 100-step routines, containing several different products. Wash with black soap, lubricate with shea butter. If you want to combine shea butter and black soap with other products, it is of course fine. But a tip is to only run them for a couple of weeks, to be able to experience their full effect.
And last, but not least. How cool that what you have in your hands was made in hours by the village women of Ghana? In your hand you have woman's gold, culture, a heritage passed down for thousands of years — which were even Cleopatra's favourites. One of your best feedbacks we have received is that the products are not only great skin care, but also an experience. That the women's spirit is felt, in them.
