Shea butter

Behind every jar of shea butter is a cooperative, a craft and a knowledge that has been passed down through generations. Here we show how the shea butter is produced, from shea nut to finished product.

  1. Harvesting and sorting

    The shea nuts are collected from the ground. They are sorted, boiled and dried in the sun before being ground down.

  2. Grinding to dough

    The ground nuts are mixed with water into a thick, brown dough. It is beaten by hand for several hours to release the oil.

  3. Boiling and separation

    The dough is heated and the oil rises to the surface. The mass is cooked until the oil separates completely from the brown dough.

  4. Rest and hardening

    The oil is strained, boiled again and then allowed to rest until it thickens. When it solidifies, the shea butter takes on its compact, beige-yellow shape.

The result is a natural shea butter that is soft, nutritious and appreciated for both skin and hair

Black Soap

Black soap, or black soap, is made by hand in Ghana with natural raw materials and a craft that has been built up over time. Here we show how it is made, step by step.

  1. Roasting to ashes

    Plantain peels, palm leaves and cocoa beans are roasted in the oven and form ash. It is this ash that gives the soap its cleansing and exfoliating power.

  2. Filtering and boiling

    The ash is filtered with water and boiled. It becomes a thicker mass that the women follow closely throughout the process.

  3. Addition of oils

    When the mass starts to become compact, the oils are added, for example coconut oil and unrefined shea butter.

  4. Agitation and rest

    The mass is stirred for a long time before the soap is allowed to rest and solidify. After that, it is ready to use.

The result is a natural soap that cleans and moisturizes, with a clear craftsmanship behind every piece.

Argan oil

Argan oil is a natural complement to Nuni Global's skincare ranges. Here we show how the oil is produced, from the fallen fruits to the finished cold-pressed oil.

  1. Gathering under the argan trees

    The argan fruits that have fallen from the trees are collected. They are dried in the sun and opened to access the nutritious kernels inside.

  2. Cracking by hand

    The kernels are cracked by hand with two stones. It takes both precision and feel for the core to remain intact.

  3. Pressed by hand

    Once the kernels are removed, they are gently pressed to extract the oil. This method helps preserve the natural properties of the oil.

  4. Tradition passed on

    The method has been used for generations and is an important part of the tradition surrounding argan oil.

The result is a pure, cold-pressed argan oil with a rich history and many uses in skin care.
